Shield
Green and yellow are the colors associated with Armor. The cross patte, the badge of the Federal 5th Corps, on the blue field alludes to combat service as Infantry during the Civil War; the fleur-de-lis on red is for combat service as Artillery during World War I. The eight red sections on the chevron symbolize World War II combat service and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation awarded to the organization.
Crest
The crest is that of the New York Army National Guard.
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 127th Tank Battalion on 7 December 1953. It was redesignated for the 127th Armor Regiment on 22 March 1962. It was amended to change the symbolism of the shield on 5 November 1969.
